We are the Knights of the Lab table, a robotics team out of Gilbert Arizona at Gilbert Christian High School. Our core values are teamwork, innovation, and living in a Christ-like manner. We were founded in 2013, meaning that we are a veteran team with experience in both state and world competitions. Our team is composed of nine members this year with two juniors and six seniors. We also have a sister team the Carbo-Knights #19728, whichwas founded a few years ago along with our FRC team, the Knights of the Lab Table, #9777, founded last season.
We put an emphasis on outreach as a team, with different outreach programs running throughout the entire year. A few of our outreach opportunities include RezBotics where we taught coaches of eight newly established FTC teams on the Navajo Nation Reservation how to build and program the starter robot kit. We also give necessary parts to the Az-Techs #23766, a team established last season. We also mentor our sister team the Carbo-Knights #19728, and teach the new members how to design, build, and program their robot as well as showing them what competing looks like. For outreach within FIRST we hosted the first competition of the season. To advertise our team to the school, we hosted a canned food drive, sold donuts to the student body, and we plan to host a parents night out so kids can learn about STEM and FIRST while parents can have a night without the kids. Our seniors participate in Lumina which is where they go teach kids at a Title 1 elementary school about STEM by helping them learn how to drive mini bots.
FIRST is a STEM organization, encouraging creativity, innovation, and teamwork with students from all around the world. Students are guided by adult coaches and mentors with real-world experience to develop engineering, teamwork, and leadership skills, and to build a strong foundation in STEM for the future. One of the primary core values of FIRST is Gracious Professionalism: teams being gracious, encouraging, kind, and helpful to one another, whether they win or lose.
